With more and more "on demand" services becoming available across different viewing platforms a network cabled connection to your home broadband router or hub is by far the most reliable solution for static equipment such as set top boxes or smart TVs.

TV catch up and on-demand services such as BBC iPlayer, ITV hub, Sky On Demand, YouView On Demand and streaming services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime TV and many more services all require an internet connection to operate. Although the unique selling point of the newest SkyQ equipment is its wire free connectivity in many cases your system can benefit greatly from a hard wired cabled network connection. Such as in larger properties or new build properties where the internal walls are insulated with foil backed plasterboard creating a problem for wireless signals to propagate throughout without hindrance.

Although wifi is great for portable items such as mobile devices and tablets the connection speed of wifi can vary greatly depending on the location of the equipment and the proximity of that equipment to other sources of interference, the band width available and the band being used. And although you may be able to achieve fibre broadband speeds of up to 1000mbps your wireless devices such as tablets, smart phones and laptops may be struggling on a depleted wifi signal in certain areas of your property.
